The Dental Barn is located close to Polegate and provides professional hygiene care to remove these deposits, monitor your gums and help prevent problems from becoming more serious. Our hygienists also offer personalised advice for managing bleeding, sensitivity, staining and bad breath, giving you practical ways to improve your daily routine and protect your smile.
Can I see the Hygienist without seeing the Dentist?
Yes. Direct Access means that you can book an appointment with our hygienist without needing a referral or dental examination first. If we notice decay, a damaged restoration or another issue outside the hygienist’s scope, we will explain the concern and recommend seeing a dentist.
What is Airflow?
Airflow uses warm water, compressed air and a fine cleaning powder to remove plaque, biofilm and surface stains. The spray reaches around the gumline and between teeth while providing a gentler experience than conventional polishing for many patients.
The technology can be used around dental implants because it cleans accessible implant surfaces without the abrasive action associated with some traditional methods. Regular maintenance is important for keeping the gums surrounding an implant healthy.
Selected staining on dentures may also be improved with Airflow. We will first assess the denture material and condition to ensure this is a suitable cleaning option.
Maintenance with Airflow

A preventive maintenance visit that includes a gum assessment, tartar removal and Airflow cleaning. We will focus on areas where plaque commonly collects and show you how to clean them more effectively between appointments. Depending on your gum condition and rate of build-up, we may recommend returning every three, four or six months.
New patient first Hygiene visit £105
This extended visit is designed for patients who need more intensive gum maintenance. The longer appointment allows for detailed cleaning, monitoring of affected areas and Airflow treatment around the teeth and suitable gum pockets. Advanced maintenance is often recommended at two- or three-month intervals to help manage the condition consistently.
Advanced Maintenance with Airflow £140
A longer appointment for those with advanced gum conditions including our Airflow technology to remove plaque and stains from all those hard to reach places in a gentle, comfortable and relaxing manner. Airflow is also beneficial for advanced gum disease as it disinfects your mouth and gum pockets. These maintenance appointments are normally every 2 or 3 months.
